Marie (Gober) Grimm passed away peacefully on January 7, 2017. She was born in Falls City, Alabama, on November 29, 1920, the first child of Vera and Lisbon Gober. Marie grew up in Florence, Alabama, where she graduated from Coffee High School and then attended the Larimore School of Business. Her job as a secretary in Florence led her to Birmingham when her employer moved his business there. During this time, she met a young soldier, Robert Lamar Grimm of Medway, Ohio. They married in 1943, settling in Medway after World War II.



Marie and Robert moved their young family of three children to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1955, and this has been home to Marie since that time. The last of their four children was born and grew up here. Marie served as the children’s Bible School pianist at the First Baptist Church in Pinellas Park for several years, worked as a teacher’s aide in the public school system, and enjoyed crochet and reading. An avid reader, she was well versed in literature and current events. Even after a major stroke in midlife limited her mobility and dexterity, she was able to enjoy reading, travel to many places with her husband, and spend time with her many grandchildren. At an advancing age, she mastered use of the computer, and, with one hand, she used this tool to stay in touch with family and friends. She was an example to those who knew her of determination, appreciation, and smiling through adversity. on 31 December 2099.⁵
